Now that we are in mid-April, aerification has recently been completed or is just around the corner for many golf courses.  As you build your cultural programs make sure you are achieving specific goals with how you are aerifying.  Are you looking to modify soil profiles?  Are you looking to remove excessive thatch or organic matter?  Are you looking to remove compaction?  Are you simply looking to open up your turf for better oxygen to your root systems?  Chances are you are looking to achieve some combination of the previous questions.

We know the negative perception of aerification, but for quality turf we also know aerification is a necessity.

As you continue your cultural programs in 2022, make sure you aerify to meet your specific needs and to provide quality turf consistently.
