Founded in 2003, Golf Maintenance Solutions (GMS) offers a unique combination of expertise covering all facets of golf course maintenance, including agronomy programming, irrigation, equipment maintenance, business management, leadership development, environmental practices and construction project management. The GMS management team is comprised of well established, highly skilled executives possessing decades of experience overseeing the maintenance of more than 120 golf courses throughout the nation.

Executive Team

Steve Schendel, GCSAA

Owner/Agronomist

Education: Illinois State University, Commercial Recreation, Park Administration
Experience: 30 years in Golf Course Maintenance/Training and Development

Steve has worked in many areas in turfgrass maintenance over the past 28 years. During his career he held the position of Superintendent for over 9 years, then became Regional Superintendent and a Director of Agronomy for 26 properties with a large management company. His experience includes working with private clubs as well as public golf courses and municipalities.

Steve has been very active in hiring, training and developing superintendents and assistant superintendents and has helped well over 100 in the field develop and progress in their careers in turfgrass management. Well rounded in the golf course industry, he has built great relationships with golf course owners, landlords and key personnel at the properties. With this diverse background, he recognizes the need for individualized programs while utilizing common practices that are key to providing agronomic and financial success for his clients and their properties.

Steve realizes the foundation of any good agronomic program starts with sound standards. Utilizing effective scheduling and training as well as strong relationships with vendors at national and regional/local levels, he is able to help clients and owners provide the best course conditions and value in their respective markets.

William Nauroth, GCSAA, CGIA

President/Agronomist, Western Region

Education: South Dakota State University, Park Management
Experience: Over 35 Years in Golf Course Maintenance & Construction

Bill possesses experience in all facets of course maintenance and construction. A former Superintendent, Regional Superintendent and Director of Agronomy for the world’s largest golf course management company, he oversaw the maintenance of 64 golf courses from the central U.S. to the west coast.

Bill’s expertise includes the construction of several new golf courses, numerous renovations and experience in the construction of clubhouses, maintenance buildings and cart facilities. He has recruited some of the finest superintendents in the industry and helped them become leaders in their field. He provides training and mentorship to build solid relationships and establish efficient, results-producing systems.

Throughout his career, Bill has been praised for maintaining the highest standards of turf quality and course conditions. He has also been involved in PGA, LPGA and USGA tour events.

Dean Wochaski, CGCS

President/Agronomist, Eastern Region

Education: Michigan State University, Turfgrass Management
Experience: 35 Plus Years in Golf Course Maintenance & Construction

Dean has held the positions of Superintendent, Regional Superintendent and Director of Agronomy for the world’s largest golf course management company, overseeing 63 golf courses in the eastern U.S.

Dean has a proven track record of superior turf quality and maintenance standards. He has managed several maturation projects with notable architects including Jack Nicklaus and Robert Trent Jones, Jr.

Dean has served five years on the Greater Cincinnati Superintendents Association including a term as president. His passion to train and educate as well as his attention to detail have always been a strong focus.

Dean believes building a partnership-relationship fosters a successful working environment, balancing vision and objectives with fiscal responsibility. His proven track record both in hiring and developing superintendents on the East Coast has earned him the respect amongst his peers in the industry.
